Bateleur Software has been appointed sole South African distributor of the Risaris SOA Gateway, a technology that reduces the effort and risk associated with traditional integration projects by at least 70%, irrespective of the architecture.
Risaris has offices and partners in the UK, Germany, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Spain, North America, South America and the Middle East; its newly released SOA Gateway is being used in these countries to tackle the most ambitious and complex integration challenges.
According to Bateleur Software's chairman, Sam Selmer-Olsen, the SOA Gateway's primary function is to remove the obstacles of application modernisation.
“The major problems with today's integration projects is that enabling applications, new channels and distribution partners to access your back-end systems requires integrating multiple languages, platforms and skill sets,” he said. “Despite vendor claims and new standards, large amounts of custom coding are required to marry different languages protocols and standards, reengineer existing applications and custom APIs, compensate for core system idiosyncrasies, maintain control of core assets, enable non-technical users to use applications securely, and access applications from modern technologies.
“In fact, Datamonitor research highlights that the chasm between data and logic is the reason why up to 70% of integration projects costs stem from manually implementing data manipulation code,” he said.
“But, because Risaris' SOA Gateway has been developed to remove anywhere from 70% to 90% of the effort and risk associated with traditional integration projects irrespective of the chosen architecture, it allows IT executives to dramatically reduce the time, complexity and cost of integration projects while maintaining secure control of their core assets,” Selmer-Olsen said.
Gateway is single tiered, runs local to data and business logic, interfaces directly with local resources, focuses on standard service-based integration, and is platform, database and language independent.
Promised benefits include 90% less custom code, no need for messaging middleware, no custom server logic, no software installation on the client system, and the use of standard SSL security to protect the data.
An endorsement of the new software comes from Software AG with Dick Waite, Senior R&D Consultant, saying: “Access to existing data and business logic on any existing platform can be achieved within days not months.”
Concludes Selmer-Olsen: “SOA Gateway allows the organisation to integrate with existing core databases and business logic assets in hours instead of weeks or months, allow programmers to focus on creating valuable business applications instead of accessing the existing core assets, re-use integration services from multiple technologies, ensure integration delivery times are met, and reduce integration costs by 35% or more. In today's environment, it is a very valuable tool indeed.
Risaris SOA Gateway will be demonstrated for the first time in South Africa on 9 December in Johannesburg. For further details call Beverley at 011 691 1600 or e-mail bev@bateleur.co.za.
