SecureData Security, part of JSE-listed SecureData Holdings and the sub-Saharan distributor for Check Point Software Technologies, today announced the latter's SmartEvent Software Blade, a new unified security management solution for real-time event visibility across multiple security systems, including firewall, intrusion prevention (IPS), data loss prevention (DLP) and endpoints.
SmartEvent filters the mass of daily threat logs and events, highlights critical events as they occur and gives security administrators the ability to stop attacks straight from the management interface.
"Security administrators can only act as quickly and effectively as they can assess relevant data," commented Oded Gonda, vice-president of network security at Check Point. "With SmartEvent, administrators can view security incidents from a high-level business view to forensic details in just three clicks of a mouse for fast-acting threat response."
“SmartEvent correlates events from the different security solutions (firewall, IPS, DLP, endpoint, anti-virus, etc), presenting them in a consolidated view that highlights critical security incidents. Events are consolidated and displayed in a clear and concise format, based on severity and frequency using visual timelines, also known as "the doughnut timeline view. In addition, the SmartEvent interface allows administrators to add protections on-the-fly to remediate attacks quickly, such as implementing policy changes or blocking traffic from certain sources.”
"As a municipal utility provider of electricity, natural gas, water, and wastewater, we have federally mandated compliance requirements we must follow," added Tom Fowler, information security specialist at Colorado Springs Utilities. "Check Point SmartEvent provides new levels of visibility we never had before. It has enabled us to get to the root of security issues, remediate threats fasters and meet our compliance requirements with ease."
Through Check Point's Software Blade architecture, customers can easily deploy the SmartEvent Software Blade into their existing security management, dramatically reducing deployment time and costs. In addition, SmartEvent is also available on dedicated Smart-1 SmartEvent appliances, turnkey, all-in-one management solutions designed to provide comprehensive security event analysis for mid-size and large enterprise security networks.
Features and benefits of Check Point SmartEvent Software Blade include:
* Real-time event information and trends using timelines, charts or maps give businesses a holistic view of security events.
* One unified event interface monitors security events for Check Point software blades and third party systems, delivering improved administration efficiency and compliance reporting.
* Actionable threat management that allows businesses to stop attacks right from the management screen for immediate threat response.
* Advanced geo-protection that allows businesses to block malicious traffic from rogue nations.
* Built-in ticketing assigns incidents to security staff, streamlining event investigation.
"As security threats continue to increase in sophistication and frequency, SmartEvent provides customers with greater visibility and superior threat control of the risks in their IT security environments," concluded Gonda.
