New Xerox printer delivers colour that's easy on the budget

Johannesburg, 20 Apr 2010

High-quality colour is no longer off limits to budget-conscious small companies and workgroups with the introduction of Xerox's Phaser 6140 colour laser printer.

The Phaser 6140 produces vivid colour documents by pairing 600x600x4 dpi image resolution with Xerox's Emulsion Aggregate High Gloss (EA-HG) toner, which provides crisp text and uniform colour.

“The printer also comes with a variety of tools like Adobe's Postscript 3, Pantone colour-approved simulations and Xerox colour-correction technology to help manage colour and ensure professional-looking colour prints,” says Ernest Leong, product manager at the office systems group of Bytes Document Solutions, authorised Xerox distributor to 24 sub-Saharan countries.

With a paper capacity of 250 sheets and rapid print speeds of 18 pages per minute (ppm) in colour and 20ppm in black-and-white, the Phaser 6140 helps small offices produce high quality colour documents quickly and reliably. The printer's compact design is ideal for companies with limited space.

To boost worker productivity, the Phaser 6140 also includes:

* Optional features such as automatic two-sided printing, an additional 250-sheet paper tray and wireless network adaptor that allows users to build a printer that best suits their needs;
* The Run Black feature that keeps the printer running in black toner, even if the colour toner needs to be replenished, ensuring users can keep printing. The printer also recognises and automatically skips blank pages in a document, speeding up print time and reducing paper waste by up to 50%; and
* Compatibility with a variety of operating systems including Microsoft 7 and Mac OS X 10.6.

The Phaser 6140 is Energy Star-qualified, which means that it reduces energy consumption and has an intelligent sleep mode. Users can choose when the printer automatically switches to Power Save mode or simply press the convenient front panel button to start or stop Power Save when it suits them. The printer is also part of the Xerox Green World Alliance, which is a worldwide initiative to encourage customers to recycle or dispose of supplies in a manner that minimises impact on the environment.
