This may be the kind of attitude that is needed for what looks to be a tough year ahead. While some companies are dreading 2009, Space Age Technologies is clearly adopting a positive approach and sees this as a year of opportunity.
The new office cleverly mixes the themes of youth and energy with that of professional and corporate. Space Age Technologies' MD, Mark Geschke, comments: “We were very lucky to be able to design the new office entirely around the needs of our business. We have, for example, moved away from a totally open plan layout to a more team based one, while still maintaining a relatively open plan feel between the teams. This enabled us to combine the advantages of openness with improved productivity by reducing distractions.”
The result is a stimulating environment for employees. In keeping with the vibrant feel, the recreation area has been fitted with a DSTV and an Xbox 360, adding a touch of fun to life at the office. One visitor even remarked “Wow, a mini-Google!” referring to the California-based company's well-known funky office themes. This shows the extent to which the company will go in its quest to become IT employer of choice in the Western Cape.
In addition, the company's logo has been refreshed to a more modern and professional look. Marketing Director, Chris Welham explains: “We have always focused on bringing enterprise class IT solutions to the SME sector, following solid standards and best practices. With this market segment maturing in terms of the use of IT in their businesses, they need to feel comfortable knowing that their service provider is a professional, capable and stable company. How you project your image to the market plays a big role in how the market feels about bringing you into their business.”
