Independent testing organisation scores Equitrac's full line at four-and-a-half stars, out of a perfect five.

Plantation, FL, 25 Mar 2009

Equitrac Corporation, the leader in intelligent cost recovery and print management solutions worldwide, has earned a rating of four-and-a-half stars (out of a perfect five) for the latest generation of its core solutions offerings - Equitrac Professional 5, Equitrac Office 4 and Equitrac Express 4 - by Buyers Laboratory Inc (BLI), the imaging industry's leading source of independent and reliable product testing and evaluation.

In each of its three just-released Solutions Reports, the organisation wrote: “BLI has no hesitation in recommending this solution to organisations looking for a scalable, cost-effective application that is upgradeable and has proven itself in the marketplace over a period of many years.”

BLI analysts found plenty to praise about the Equitrac solutions, including versatility, ease of use and “excellent reporting abilities”. Focusing on the solutions' cost-recovery features, BLI said: “We like the fact that the system offers a very flexible and customisable way of establishing pricing for jobs,” and drew special attention in both its reviews and customer case studies to Equitrac solutions' “relatively fast return on investment (ROI), with some firms reporting increases of 40% to 65% in recovery of billable expenses”.

“Users and dealers say the solution starts generating extra revenue immediately and the return on investment is between three and 12 months,” said the BLI review. Even faster payback was reported by the chief operating officer of an architecture firm, which had installed Equitrac Professional. “We estimated the ROI at three-and-a-half months,” BLI quoted the customer as saying. “In fact, the solution only took 2.8 months to pay for itself, because we were losing more revenue than we thought.”

Addressing how Equitrac Office meets the needs of businesses that want to reduce print waste and costs without necessarily charging for documents, BLI wrote of “firms reporting declines in print volumes of 15% to 30%”. BLI also reported impressive results for colleges and universities using the Equitrac Express solution to reduce print waste or charge students for output. According to BLI, at one US college, in just one semester, “print volumes dropped 41%, and 93% of students printed less than 600 pages (their semester quota). In addition to seeing costs return to the 2003 figure, the college also generated $10 000 in unexpected revenue from those who exceeded their quota - money that was used to improve student IT services.”

“It's gratifying to receive this level of recognition from the imaging industry's most respected source of unbiased product information, especially since our newest solutions were the result of unprecedented collaboration between Equitrac, every major equipment manufacturer and the software developers our customers depend on,” said Michael Rich, CEO, Equitrac. “Our goal was to produce the cost-effective, vendor-neutral, print management and cost recovery platform that would meet our customers' needs today and for years to come. It's clear that we succeeded.”
