This year`s Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI) Hyperion user conference will place major emphasis on business performance management (BPM); compliance issues surrounding Sarbanes-Oxley, IAS/IFRS 2005 and Basel II; the release of Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) 3.4; and Hyperion`s acquisition of Brio.
To be held at the Indaba Hotel, Fourways, Gauteng, on 17 and 18 November, the 2003 event has been themed as "Power to Perform".
HFM 3.4 will be introduced at the conference for the first time in SA, as will Hyperion Platform - the new Essbase XTD incorporating the old Brio products such as Intelligence, SQR and Metrics Builder. This is important news for SAP customers, says Marc Scheepbouwer, CEO of GBI.
Bruno LeBlanc, Hyperion product marketing manager for reporting and consolidation, EMEA, will talk on enhancing corporate reporting with HFM and extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL).
Other international speakers will include Bhavish Naeck of The Mauritius Commercial Bank and Ismihan Feyza Baysal of Koc in Turkey.
Says Scheepbouwer: "Koc is a long-standing HFM client and constitutes a significant amount of Turkey`s GDP. Its extensive knowledge and experience in the financial management arena makes it the perfect choice to present on the benefits of using HFM and the key implementation strategy it used."
He adds: "Having a worldwide presence inevitably means having to deal with cross-border, economic and exchange rate issues. This is when planning becomes critical and an absolute business must. The Mauritius Commercial Bank will share how it managed to address these issues, why it is so successful in the financial planning arena and what has made it Hyperion`s premier planning client."
A number of new technologies will be announced at the conference, as will the improved interoperability between products, such as better metadata sharing between applications, no more entry structure mismatches, and better understanding among packages.
Scheepbouwer says: "The face of business has changed dramatically over the past few years and continues to do so. It has never been more important for businesses around the world, and in SA, to increase profitability, predict bottom line results and execute quickly on plans that align business resources and objectives across the entire organisation.
"GBI, together with Hyperion, believes it has the solutions that will assist organisations in facing these inevitable changes and the resultant challenges in the business environment, giving them the `power to perform`."
The conference has been set out in such a way that delegates can tailor it to suit individual needs. There are more than 50 breakout sessions and separate networking sessions for analytical, consolidation and budgeting/forecasting users, as well as customised sessions for the business and technical/professional user.
Attendees will have access to over 30 BPM technicall professionals and six international BPM product specialists. At the solutions centre, users can see how the products add value to business.
Scheepbouwer and Alain Blanc, Hyperion VP, EMEA will give plenary addresses on the two days.
Monday`s presentations will be followed by a cocktail party and Tuesday`s by a black tie gala dinner.
