Next BI methodology, architecture and design course scheduled

Johannesburg, 29 Jun 2004

Microsoft solution provider, IS Partners, has introduced two new courses as part of its business intelligence (BI) training curriculum. The Business Intelligence Lifecycle Architecture and Advanced Dimensional Modelling courses are aimed at BI project leaders, IT managers and BI analysts, developers and architects.

Business Intelligence Lifecycle Architecture will explore the methodology, architecture and design components needed to successfully implement a BI system on the Microsoft platform. This three-day course starts on 20 July, and will cover key issues such as controlling the BI lifecycle, identifying viable BI projects, architecting the BI system as well as an introduction to Dimensional Modelling and design.

The Advanced Dimensional Modelling course will explore advanced techniques for use in a BI environment. This two-day course starts on 27 July and will cover myths and must-haves in a BI model, generic Dimensional Modelling, modelling for Microsoft Analysis Services cubes and techniques for sales, CRM and finance. A good understanding of relational databases is required.

Paul Murphy, sales manager at IS Partners, says design techniques and methodologies involving users` needs should be at the heart of any BI implementation for it to be done correctly. "While covering the technical components of good BI design, our training also aims to provide a better understanding of business needs in order to ensure successful BI implementations."
