NextGen launches advanced level IT security training programmes

By NextGen Technologies
Johannesburg, 22 Mar 2006

NextGen, a South African company with global alliances, has launched its series of IT security training programmes. NextGen is already operating in the IT security consulting space.

"There is an acute shortage of skilled security professionals in the South African IT industry. There is a demand for trained IT professionals who can secure Windows as well as Linux servers. The ICT industry is growing in the country and there is a need for awareness as well as training on the network security, network auditing, BS7799 and business continuity and disaster recovery planning side," said Rajeev Gulia, Director of NextGen.

He added: "Our association with Information Security Group of South Africa (ISG) as Special Interest Group coordinator for training is making us more focused on quality and modular learning services which are today required by South African IT industry."

The training programmes launched by NextGen are focusing more on audiences like network administrators, security professionals, project managers, CIOs, CTOs and lead auditors.

NextGen launched the following training programmes:

1.IT Security Awareness and Foundation
2. IT Security Management System
3. IT Security Implementation
4. Securing Windows and Linux Servers
5. Security Certification Training Programs
6. Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing

Information Security Courses from NextGen will demonstrate the use of policies and procedures to be adopted along with IT security technologies to ensure optimum security within the IT environment.

The courses will be a value-addition to those who have not been exposed to information security practices and technologies required to comply with regulatory / statutory / standards requirements.

"The courses will deal with the procedural aspects of each domain of information security and then plunges into the technological aspects. This is most valuable when the team has to take informed business decisions for risk mitigation based on technical evaluation of various security technologies. The methodology for all the courses will be workshop hand-on approach," said Ronel Bornman, Head of Training for NextGen.
