New Generation Solutions (NGS), a subsidiary of SecureData Holdings that focuses on internal security solutions, and Magix, its local reseller, have clinched a three-year deal to supply, support and implement the Websense Data Security Suite (also known as CPS) at Nedbank.
The Websense Data Security Suite is a data loss prevention suite that allows companies to discover, monitor, and actually prevent the loss and misuse of sensitive and proprietary business data.
Nedbank will use the suite to identify and secure information as it passes across business communications channels such as e-mail and the Internet. The suite will be implemented using NGS's Information Leak Management methodology, an approach that encompasses all elements of internal threat management starting from data classification.
"Compliance needs and the risk of losing confidential information drove us to implement the Websense Data Security Suite. It provides us with visibility and control over our sensitive and regulated data," says Peter Seider, Executive Information Security at Nedbank.
Says Guy Golan, managing director of NGS: "The top security concern for companies in South Africa and the rest of the world is the fear that employees will inadvertently expose confidential information. This is especially true in highly regulated industries such as financial services, where the loss of data can have disastrous effects for companies and their clients.
"PCI compliance is a major challenge for South African banks because they have limited tools to demonstrate their compliance with this standard. Leading financial institutions around the world, including Nedbank, will use the Websense Data Security Suite to show where PCI information is stored and how well it is protected and managed. "
The Websense Data security suite provides content, context, and destination awareness, allowing administrators to manage who can send what information, where, and how. Using agent-less discovery tools and patent pending PreciseiD fingerprinting technology, the Websense Data security suite automatically discovers hosts inside the network - including servers and endpoints - and the data stored on them.
This allows administrators to create and implement content enforcement policies that protect confidential information, including personally identifiable information, regulatory data, and intellectual property, regardless of the file type or format.
Concludes Golan: "NGS expects that Websense implementations at number of other South African organisations will follow in the months to come. The product has established itself a leader in its segment in South Africa because of its unique detection and prevention engine as well its attractive pricing. Websense and NGS offer a local track record of more than four years in the information leak protection space."
