Nigerian postal services targets unbanked

The Nigerian Postal Services (Nipost) has partnered with e-Tranzact International to increase access to e-payment services in Nigeria, reports All Africa.com.

The partnership with Nipost is in line with e-Tranzact's mission to provide convenient e-payment services to Nigerians.

According to e-Tranzact director of business development, Sullivian Akala, the partnership with Nipost is to extend e-payment services largely to the under-banked.

Afrique en Ligne says customers can pay for airline tickets, buy airtime, pay bills, pre-paid TV, pay school fees, cash out funds and load their pre-paid cards at Nipost outlets.

Nipost head of information technology, Thomas Gaga says: “This will generate revenue for Nipost and add to the service profile for this establishment.”

According to Future Gov, the move to e-payment will be implemented in phases and will be spread across Nigeria within four months.
