Nihilent Technologies, a Johannesburg-based global consulting and solution integrations company, has entered into the fifth successful month of a skills development programme, which it jointly initiated with South Africa's leading media organisation, wherein Nihilent recruited 14 interns locally with plans to deploy them at the latter's location for a period of 18 months.
As part of the agreement, Nihilent would be responsible for training and mentoring the 14 recruits over the course of the assignment, during which time the recruits would get an opportunity to work on various IT tasks and activities at the premises of the media major, under Nihilent's supervision.
This marks a significant step for Pune, India-headquartered Nihilent, which has demonstrated its commitment to building technical and management capability in South Africa, while also helping improve employability of talented and bright young graduates in the country. It is expected that the interns, post the successful completion of the programme, will be taken into the hosting company's permanent payroll, thereby giving a solid foundation to their fledgling IT careers.
Das Mallya, Head of HR at Nihilent in South Africa, said: "This assignment is a further reiteration of Nihilent's sound HR principles. We are a people-centric organisation, whether in South Africa or India, and our engagement with the media company is a testimony to our commitment to their success by grooming quality resources, while building local capability."
