The cloud is the future, and everybody in the IT industry seems to know it. Considering all the buzz about cloud computing, the market still offers surprisingly few proven solutions, and many companies have concerns about implementing them.
For example, it's not clear what business benefits cloud infrastructure will bring, when to choose the public cloud versus a private cloud, or how to address security issues. There is also ongoing debate about how cloud computing will affect employee structures within IT departments, and how to prevent possible job cuts due to those changes.
NIL has answers to these cloud computing questions.
On 12 April 2011, NIL held its first Top Executive Event, in Istanbul, Turkey. Titled: “Power the Cloud, into the Future”, this event gathered more than 40 IT professionals from service providers, enterprises and banks to discuss cloud computing solutions.
Two guest speakers presented their solutions and experiences with cloud-based infrastructure. Magyar Telkom's Zsolt`an Cseh said: “Cloud is inevitable, cloud is the future,” speaking about hosted services in this largest of Hungarian service providers. Cem Albayrak from Cisco Systems Turkey gave a technical overview of the cloud in Cisco's Unified Computing solutions.
Mitja Robas, CCIE No. 12907, presented NIL's cloud-based solutions and experiences with implementation: “The cloud is the infrastructural approach with the greatest potential, which NIL has been proving with successful projects in the last couple of years. We have had a lot of useful experiences, earning knowledge that helps us to overcome challenges and gain trust with our customers. With products like NIL HyperCenter (NIL's cloud-based data centre solution) already on the market, NIL is proving that the cloud is not a future matter - it is here. Now.”
After the presentations, guests took a look at NIL's Flip IT solution and had an opportunity to try NIL's virtual desktop solution by themselves. At the end of the official programme, guests engaged in a roundtable discussion, in which representatives from NIL, Cisco Systems and Wyse Technology addressed future challenges of cloud solutions, emphasising their potential as well as the business opportunities that companies should take into account.
This was the first large event held by NIL's Turkish division, opened in Istanbul in 2010. Burcu Boyali, responsible for the organisation, expressed satisfaction with the success of the event: “NIL is already a recognised and respected name in Turkey; however, our ambitions and plans go far beyond where we are now. The purpose of this event was to get in touch with our potential customers and present them with a true image of NIL as a trusted partner with high-level technical expertise. The Turkish market has great business potential for us, and in 2010 we carried out some very successful projects here. We want to continue that trend.”
