MTN's former financial director has joined the board of fast-moving consumer goods company Tiger Brands.
MTN announced about a year ago that Nisbet would leave Africa's largest cellular provider, after having joined in 1995. Nisbet, who has “been an integral part of the group's senior management team”, will “pursue other business interests”, MTN said in a Stock Exchange News Service announcement last June.
Nisbet relinquished his board position at the end of September, to be replaced by Nazir Patel.
The JSE-listed fast-moving consumer goods company also appointed Maya Makanjee and Makhup Nyama.
Makanjee has held senior executive positions with fast-moving consumer goods companies SABMiller Africa and Asia and Nestle SA. Nyama has held senior executive positions in IT and communications companies, and was the former group CE of Grintek.
Tiger Brands operates mainly in SA and selected emerging markets. It houses household names such as All Gold, Albany and Koo.
