Nokia Siemens Networks has appointed Jorg Erlemeier as its new Middle East and Africa region head.

Erlemeier is the head of the company's services business in the Asia-Pacific region. “For the past three years, Jorg has been responsible for growing our services business in Asia-Pacific, including India,” says Nokia Siemens Networks chief of market operations Bosco Novak.

Erlemeier replaces Jan Cron. It is unclear what Cron's new plans will be after he leaves in October.

“Jan has done a great job consolidating and integrating our business in the region since our formation. Thanks to Jan, we are positioned as a leading telecommunications supplier across the Middle East and Africa, and he has our deep appreciation for his leadership throughout our transformation,” says Novak.

The company says Erlemeier has had 15 years of experience in the telecoms sector. “In this role, Jorg has proven he is a successful leader of diverse teams in varying environments, which will serve him well as we look to strengthen our business across the Middle East and Africa.”

According to Nokia Siemens Networks, Erlemeier will be responsible for 130 fixed and mobile customers.

The company recently appointed a new CEO for the global operation, Rajeev Suri, who will also take up his position at the beginning of October. Suri succeeds Simon Beresford-Wylie.
