NokusaEI and Africa

Johannesburg, 21 Oct 2009

NokusaEI has undertaken to assist SAP with driving sales of SAP software into the African region. NokusaEI has identified a burning content management need within various organisations in Africa and it is evident that more and more clients are expressing a requirement to manage documents and records within their organisations.

SAP has a number of offices in West Africa and East Africa and in other regions within Africa.

NokusaEI has engaged with a number of clients and partners together with SAP. “We have been to Nigeria a number of times and assisted clients and SAP to develop a roadmap for their ECM strategies,” says Warren Buss, ECM Solution Manager for NokusaEI. “We have also been in contact with organisations in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.”

SAP has a comprehensive ECM (enterprise content management) solution, including document management, records management, Web content management, collaboration etc. “Countries in Africa are lagging in technology and processes to assist them with ECM, and using SAP ECM makes sense to existing clients. Existing SAP ERP clients are already licensed for most of the ECM components, so there is little or no additional licence expenditure required,” says Buss.

Another advantage of using SAP ECM for existing SAP clients is that there is no integration to an external system required. Integration to existing SAP objects is intrinsic and all information, including document and records, are at the users' fingertips. All information about an HR record can be attached to the personnel record and managed without having to navigate to other systems or document repositories. Other information eg, financial, procurement, inventory, assets, materials, products and other modules, also make use of the document and records management components.

Organisations and governments are increasingly required to adhere to standards and laws governing document and records management. SAP Records Management assists these organisations to comply with these rules, as well as to manage retention, disposals and long-term archiving of this information.
