Controlling business information is a complex task that all companies need to face. In large companies, the number of documents generated every day is tremendous, and employees are under constant pressure to make sure this data is handled, managed, stored, preserved and delivered accordingly.
“When dealing with business documents, the question of crime must also be considered, as criminal syndicates seem to have no trouble generating false invoices and credentials with the intention to defraud,” says Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution manager at Nokusa Engineering Informatics (NokusaEI), Warren Buss. “Effective content management ensures business content is organised efficiently and pre-empts criminals, while helping companies comply with a growing number of corporate governance regulations.”
NokusaEI is a black-empowered, South African company, having been established in 1997, specialising in strategic business consulting and implementations in the area of ECM. The company empowers customers by assisting them to manage their business content, in its many forms, efficiently and according to international best practices as well as regulatory compliance.
As with many areas within the IT industry, document management skills are in short supply in South Africa. Recognising this, NokusaEI recently presented a number of in-house OpenText 'boot camps' aimed at improving the document management skills of its consultants.
The first boot camp focused on the SAP Vendor Invoice Management Application by OpenText. This add-on to SAP helps companies manage invoice processing, meet critical payment and compliance deadlines and avoid risks related to inaccurate business information. “NokusaEI hosted a number of consultants at the boot camp for an intensive invoice management training session,” adds Buss. “After the training, the consultants were tested and all passed the test and gained their certification.”
The consultants were all positive about the boot camp, appreciating the time away from the office focused on mastering the OpenText VIM module. They left the training session able to design and implement the required modules and components that make up the VIM solution.
As an OpenText Select SAP Competence partner, NokusaEI also held a second boot camp focused on OpenText's Extended ECM for SAP solution. OpenText Extended ECM manages all forms of content throughout the entire content life cycle.
The module extends the transactional process management capabilities of SAP ERP with comprehensive ECM capabilities, including document management, records management and collaboration. With OpenText Extended ECM, employees can unite the worlds of ERP and ECM in a single solution, reducing the risks and costs of records mismanagement, increasing information worker productivity and enhancing their companies' ability to comply with regulations.
Once again, the boot camp boasted a 100% pass rate. “Effective document management is a skill that needs to be mastered, especially in corporations using SAP that cannot afford mistakes and long searches for misfiled documents,” says Buss. “Our boot camps concept ensures that our consultants are ready to add value the moment they get to a client, optimising and transforming content management in their organisations.” Buss adds that the success of the boot camp training format has prompted NokusaEI to start planning another boot camp, aimed at OpenText Employee File Management (EFM) Application for SAP.
“NokusaEI is a proud Special Expertise Partner of SAP and OpenText SAP Competence Partner, and continuously builds on this relationship in assisting SAP and OpenText with their new solutions and offerings within the ECM environment. Clients are assured that all consultants are highly skilled with the relevant training, and we ensure that all of them remain accredited with our solution and services portfolio,” concludes Buss.
J"urgen Maier, SAP ecosystem program manager Europe/APJ at OpenText, adds: “We are excited about NokusaEI's commitment to OpenText. With this heavy investment in technical training and certification, NokusaEI has proven to be a focused, ambitious and growth-oriented OpenText SAP Competence Partner. We are convinced that NokusaEI has the perfect set-up to deliver high quality projects for SAP OpenText clients in the South African market.”
