Nology distributes its Yealink IP phone range through Ingram Micro

Delivers IP telephony handsets to the channel.

Johannesburg, 20 Nov 2009

Nology is now supplying its range of Yealink IP telephony handsets to the channel through distributor Ingram Micro, providing additional opportunities to its resellers to expand their offering to end-user customers. This move broadens Ingram Micro's product offering to include VOIP telephony solutions, which are increasingly in demand.

Explains Hilton Haefele, product manager at Ingram Micro: “Voice over IP (VOIP) has become increasingly popular as a means for organisations to reduce their communications costs. This burgeoning industry has been given a further boost through the recent bandwidth price reductions, allowing companies to leverage the cost advantage offered by using VOIP for local and international calls.”

This has created greater demand in the market for high quality handsets that deliver high-definition (HD) voice technology, as well as support for up to six SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) connections.

Says Riaan Leuschner, Managing Director at Nology, a supplier of quality security-driven broadband, networking and communication solutions: “VOIP and IP telephony have traditionally been plagued by inconsistent voice quality, hindering the uptake in the market. However, HD voice, a key feature within the Yealink range of IP handsets, delivers crystal clear voice quality over IP, making the proposition of VOIP and IP telephony more attractive. In addition, the actual handsets are feature-rich and stylish, complementing the d'ecor of any organisation.”

The SIP-T2x range of Yealink IP handsets on offer from Ingram Micro meets the various needs of individuals in organisations. The range includes the SIP-T20P entry level phone, the SIP-T22P professional phone, the SIP-T26P advanced IP phone, the SIP-T28P executive IP phone, the VP-2009D IP video phone and the EXP-38 expansion module. The range is complemented with YHS32 headset for hands-free talking.

Additional features include Power over Ethernet (POE), a technology that allows devices to draw power over IP networks, allowing users to simply 'plug in' wherever there is a network point. In addition, the handsets feature support for the advance wideband codec G.722, which delivers exceptional voice quality along with other codecs, wide area network (WAN) connectivity and full duplex functionality. The handsets are also compatible with the open source platform known as Asterisk.

Says Haefele: “The inclusion of the Yealink range of IP handsets from Nology is a natural move for us, extending our existing relationship with Nology and further cementing it. The range also complements our existing networking offering - by including the traditionally niche market of IP telephony handsets, we take the next step in expanding our reach.”
