Nology to Launch New Billion Broadband and Networking Products at Equip

Johannesburg, 30 Apr 2006

Nology has announced that it will be using its space on the Equip exhibition floor as an opportunity to launch a new series of Billion broadband and networking solutions, aimed at the home and SMB market.

Nology is the sole distributor of Billion products in South Africa and the only company other than Telkom to have both ICASA and Telkom certifications for its devices.

Nology was founded in 2001 with a focus on ISDN technology solutions, being pioneers in gaining ICASA approval for ISDN devices. The company has since expanded, focusing on modern broadband technologies, such as ADSL.

Says Riaan Leuschner for Nology (Pty) Ltd, "The main focus of Nology and Billion is to jointly make the installation and use of networking and broadband products as easy as possible for the end user. This is achieved with unique and dynamic technology built into our products."

One of the features delivering on this goal is a key part of the 7300 and 7300G ADSL routers which Nology will be launching at Equip. "The 7300 series of routers have built in firmware which makes the installation of these devices as simple as possible," enthuses Leuschner. "Users simply connect the device to power, an ADSL telephone line and computer network and then open up Internet Explorer on their computer. They are immediately presented with a web page that will guide them through a quick installation. Using the 7300 range of ADSL routers, home users can be connected to ADSL in record time, without any technical knowledge."

The 7300 ADSL router also has an integrated 4-port Ethernet switch for network connectivity, while the 7300G adds wireless networking support. Both products support ADSL 2+ and the 7300G has wireless security with Port-, MAC- and URL filtering. "URL filtering is particularly useful for parents who want to restrict access to adult content on the Internet or managers who would like to restrict Internet access for their employees," says Leuschner. Billion will also be introducing a new MIMO version of the 7300 within the next quarter - the Billion 7300M. MIMO technology is a wireless LAN technology that extends your wireless range significantly.

Nology will also soon be launching the 7401VGP - a router solution that includes support for voice over IP (VoIP) technology. "The 7401VGP will allow users to connect wirelessly to their ADSL connection, while also allowing them to plug any regular telephone into the device. The router then becomes capable of facilitating both Internet or normal telephone calls. Once the device has been configured with a VoIP service provider, one could make Internet-to-Internet or Internet-to-landline or cell phone calls," explains Leuschner.

Visitors to the Nology stand at Equip will also be able to review best-of-breed SSL VPN security gateways. These include a new series of iBusiness Security Gateways with SSL VPN, namely the BiGuard S10, and the innovative hybrid of SSL VPN and IPSec VPN in the BiGuard s20 as well as other innovative broadband and networking products.

Visitors will be able to see these products as well as the end-user interfaces of the devices, and also stand a chance to win a Billion VoIP wireless ADSL router.

Equip is collated with Futurex and Linux World to form the definitive event for showcasing business technology solutions and equipment. Equip will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre from 16 to 19 May, 2006.
