Nortel Networks announces all-in-one small business connectivity solution

Johannesburg, 21 Jan 2000

Nortel Networks has announced the BayStack 820 ISDN router, a reliable and easy-to-use solution for small business connectivity. This technology allows telephone, fax and multiple PCs to plug into one box and share one ISDN line.

Doug Batchelor, regional director of Nortel Networks Enterprise Solutions in South Africa, says the BayStack 820 will enable local customers to create a mini Local Area (LAN) via its four 10Mbps Ethernet ports.

"In addition, customers will be able to share access through a single Internet account, and simultaneously use their ISDN line for both phone and fax simply by connecting them to the two integrated phone jacks," he says.

"The BayStack 820 is an ideal solution for small- to medium-sized businesses that have two or more offices needing connectivity, but don`t have the need or budget for a dedicated or leased line solution."

Designed for the typical small office customer, the BayStack 820 ISDN router has been built to be easy to install, configure and manage. The BayStack 820`s low price makes it an ideal choice for telecommuters and branch office users looking for cost-effective Internet and corporate office-to-office connectivity. The BayStack 820 also supports Virtual Private Networking (VPN) connectivity for providing secure data communication over the Internet.
