Nortel Networks has announced a unified certification program framework for the company`s voice and data product lines. The announcement introduces the industry`s first consultant-level designation, the Nortel Networks Certified Network Architect (NNCNA).
"The program framework spans Nortel Networks product lines providing candidates the flexibility to pursue certifications focused on data solutions, voice solutions or a combination of both. The new program will be made available in a phased roll-out throughout 1999," explained Q Data Distribution product manager Anton van Bers.
"In the past certification for data networks and telephony networks has come from different players in different industries. Today these networks and industries are converging, unified networks are emerging. The industry is asking for a training and certification program that tracks these industry trends," he said.
"Furthermore, high-end certifications should demonstrate abilities beyond product installation and configuration. The NNCNA certification examines a candidate`s total capabilities and requires industry experience - giving customers confidence that they are working with a qualified expert. Certified NNCNAs will be the professionals best able to help customers transition to Unified Networks solutions, " van Bers added.
