Nortel`s BCS 3000 aims for consolidation
Nortel has introduced the Business Continuity System (BCS) 3000, designed to enable enterprises to simplify and consolidate the networking infrastructure, computing infrastructure, IT support and storage requirements of branch offices, IT News Online reports.
By providing these benefits in a single platform, the BCS 3000 enables enterprise customers to migrate to an "IT-thin" branch office architecture that reduces computing and network infrastructure total cost of ownership by as much as 55%.
The BCS 3000 enhances monitoring and management features, providing global visibility and control of the entire network from a single centralised location.
Holes found in UK SME disaster recovery plans
The majority of UK-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are ill-prepared for getting back online in the event of a major disaster, according to the findings of a survey commissioned by Mitel Networks, Silicon reports.
Of businesses surveyed, 68% admitted it would take at least two working days to become operational again in a worst case scenario. Twelve percent said they have no idea how long it would take.
However, 18% believe they could ask staff to log on remotely while 10% would instruct their staff to work from another premises.
Neverfail for SharePoint gets MS nod
