NovaMind gets MS project import
For some time, the Windows edition of the NovaMind Mind Mapping program has had the ability to add project related information like start and finish dates, percentage complete, priorities, and assign resources to the branches on the Mind Maps, according to PRWeb.
Unlike the Mac version of NovaMind which can be imported directly into Merlin, the Windows edition did not have any way of getting the information over into a project management package.
Now that has all changed with the introduction of both import and export of Microsoft Project XML files. This means that it is possible to carry out the project inception phases in NovaMind, brainstorming ideas and working out the project's scope and objectives, then export into Microsoft Project format for detailed project management.

Meridian Systems announces PM study
Meridian Systems announced the availability of a new research study from FMI Corporation that documents how organisations are using construction project management solutions to achieve qualitative business benefits and significant return on investment, states Cadalyst.
In March, Meridian Systems commissioned FMI to conduct an independent user study to analyse the impact on organisations using its construction project management software.
"Understanding the business challenges that drive organisations to adopt construction project management technology was key to this study," said Jay Bowman, director, FMI Services Group. "For most Meridian customers, the lack of document control and the need to standardise project management practices across their organisations were key drivers."
