Novell announces annual Partner Summit at BrainShare 2005

Johannesburg, 18 Aug 2005

More than 400 IT companies will attend this year`s annual Novell Partner Summit at the new Centre Convencions International Barcelona from 11 to 15 September.

The Partner Summit is aimed at solution providers, independent software and hardware vendors and training companies. Participants are either existing Novell partners or prospective partners interested in finding out more about Novell`s future plans in Linux and identity management.

Companies ranging from Oracle, Intel, IBM and HP to Veritas, Teamware, SugarCRM and Syncscort will spend four days taking part in discussions, training labs and a wide and comprehensive range of technical and business workshops on topics such as Linux in the data centre, in workgroup environments and on the desktop, identity-driven security, systems management and provisioning.

The Partner Summit is a fully integrated track of BrainShare, a convention hosted annually by Novell and attended by approximately 1 000 Novell customers, developers, journalists and analysts, as well as partners.

2005 is the fifteenth year that BrainShare has been held in EMEA, and the sixth year for the Partner Summit. This year, however, the Partner Summit is on a much larger scale than previous years.

Participants may take advantage of:

* A four-day event, fully integrated into BrainShare
* Over 30 workshop sessions exclusively for partners and prospective partners.
* Access to all the BrainShare activities, including breakout sessions and social activities.
* Partner Summit Dinner and Awards ceremony on 11 September.
* Lunch with the Best - a daily lunch for partners to meet with Novell specialists.
* Qualification Zone - partners can take certification and specialisation tests.
* Partner lounge reserved for participants of the Partner Summit.
* No restrictions on who can attend - PartnerNet and non PartnerNet partners welcome.

Partner Awards Ceremony

A Partner Awards Ceremony on the evening of Sunday 11 September at CCIB marks the start of the summit. Novell will present eight awards for different categories of Partner of the Year 2005 during the partner summit welcome dinner. These awards recognise the past year`s top performing and most innovative Novell partners in their fields and are taken from a shortlist of nominations.

"At this year`s BrainShare, Novell is focusing more than ever on our partners and alliances and on prospective partners. Those attending will be given the choice of over 30 partner-focused workshops led by other Novell partners and executives," says Johan Rosius, VP Partners and Alliances EMEA.

Rosius adds: "From a networking perspective, the Partner Summit is a valuable opportunity for partners to network with their industry peers as well as Novell executives and technical specialists at the partner awards dinner, at the lunch with the best, and in the various designated zones such as the partner lounge and qualification zone. From a training perspective, we will be offering partners advice on their future training programmes. Those in the mood can take Novell`s new practicum test for Certified Linux Engineers for free."
