Novell appoints Microbyte as the first NAEC in Nigeria

Johannesburg, 17 Apr 2001

Novell Africa has announced the appointment of Microbyte International Nigeria Limited as its first Novell Authorised Centre (NAEC) in Nigeria. Microbyte, a systems integrator and training company, is also a certified Novell Business Partner.

Novell South Africa was afforded the responsibility to expand Novell business into the rest of Africa and has reported substantial growth in revenue for this region. The success into Africa is largely due to the implementation of a locally designed partner programme, the African Business Partner Programme.

"We have experienced phenomenal growth in business as a result of our aggressive African business partner initiatives," said Novell regional manager for sub-Saharan Africa Graham Hallworth. "We are identifying competent and key resellers in each country who we can support with confidence."

Novell provides resellers like Microbyte with the tools to be successful in their regions and the programme is working exceptionally well. The programme also includes roadshows, technical and sales training sessions, seminars and marketing support.

Incorporated in 1997 as an IT training, consulting and publishing company, Microbyte International is geared to providing IT solutions to a broad spectrum of clients, both foreign and domestic, in the public, private and educational sectors.

"We are proud with our appointment as Nigeria`s first NAEC," says Microbyte managing director Dele Ajisomo. "Novell is the leading company, and a leader in IT and Net services. We are looking forward to working in close cooperation with Novell by our customers about their products as well as Net services."

"Many companies in our region use Novell products, and are beginning to see the need for qualified engineers to manage their environments," he continues. "Engineers need training and our own Certified Novell Instructors (CNIs) are fully equipped to provide them with the latest training on Novell products."

"We are extremely pleased to have an NAEC in the West African region," adds Hallworth. "NAECs are key to Novell`s success in sub-Saharan Africa and play a vital role in our efforts to develop and support the channel."

Microbyte International has grown through the establishment of key partner relationships. "We meet our clients` needs by packaging a full range of IT products, services and support, and training," says Ajisomo. "We believe in establishing strong relationships with our clients - working closely with them to analyse their current business situation. We provide consultation on how to meet their requirements and also help them plan for future growth."
