A steady flow of new directory-based products continue to power Novell`s networking software leadership, with the company`s new NetWare Cluster Services for NetWare 5 named Best-of-Show in the Network Applications Software category in awards judged by the editors of various publications recently. Industry honors for Novell`s new clustering software follow VARBusiness Annual Report Card awards conferred on Novell earlier this month for best network operating system (NetWare) and best channel relations.
Novell SE manager James Stewart says NetWare Cluster Services for NetWare 5 is a highly scalable, extremely manageable software solution that keeps networks and related programs like e-mail and Web services up and running for business customers. "The software unifies server computers into a group, or cluster, in which servers instantly back each other up in the event that one fails. Through integration with Novell Directory Services (NDS), NetWare Cluster Services also simplifies and lowers the cost of managing the networked servers."
"This award recognises the importance our customers place on maximising network uptime, which becomes all the more important as they extend their networks and applications to the Internet. NetWare Cluster Services continues Novell`s heritage as the best server platform for managing uptime, even in mixed and fast-changing network environments," he adds.
Earlier this month, Novell`s directory-enabled NetWare server platform won the Best Network Operating System award in the annual industry Report Card event sponsored by VARBusiness magazine. During that same event, Novell won the "Best Support and Partnership" award for its channel relations.
