Novell has introduced new products, services and partnerships that deliver on its vision of one Net - the unified network emerging as intranets, extranets, and the Internet meld into one. Novell extended its leadership as a Net infrastructure provider by launching new versions of its directory-based software, iChain 1.5, eGuide 1.5, and eNDPS, and by highlighting key partnerships, including groundbreaking work with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, the world`s fifth-largest IT and management consulting firm.
"Organisations of all sizes are coming to terms with the imperative that eBusiness initiatives be implemented quickly," said Novell e-business solutions manager James Thomas. "Novell`s Net services are helping customers accelerate that move to the Net, securely and easily. The quickening pace of the industry`s adoption of Novell`s software solutions proves that Novell`s vision of one Net is where customers want to go."
IChain 1.5 is a robust security and management infrastructure that provides a strong foundation for eBusiness. Available through Novell Consulting and Consultant & Systems Integrator partners, iChain 1.5 helps eBusinesses increase revenue potential, reduce administrative overhead, and increase customer loyalty and satisfaction. iChain gives companies the ability to simplify and accelerate their transformation to eBusiness and to extend traditional business relationships securely to customers and partners on the Net.
eGuide 1.5 is available immediately to Novell customers as a free download from www.novell.com/download. Based on Novell NDS eDirectory, eGuide is a Web-based application service that acts as a "white pages" for the Net and enables dynamic eBusiness processes by connecting people, places and things. eGuide extends the reach of user information and enhances communications across multiple networks, enabling employees, customers, and supply-chain partners to access critical eBusiness processes.
Novell has announced the availability of the fastest print services available, embedded Novell Distributed Print Services (eNDPS). Revolutionising and simplifying local area, wide area and Net printing through the power of Novell`s NetWare and NDS eDirectory, eNDPS is being adopted by printer manufacturers and developers like IBM, Netreon, and Netsilicon, among others.
Novell also announced that Gulfstream Aerospace, a provider of the popular luxury jets, has selected iChain as the security platform for its presence on the Net. iChain makes it possible for Gulfstream to provide customers and partners with secure access to customised content and services over Gulfstream`s Web site.
Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, the world`s fifth-largest IT management and consulting firm, chose Novell`s Net service software, eDirectory, iChain and DirXML, as a platform to develop a business-to-business eCommerce exchange for the MoD. The eBusiness solution will allow the MoD to conduct secure eCommerce business transactions with business partners across the Internet.
SecuGen, a leader in the biometrics industry, announced an agreement with Novell to integrate its secure fingerprint biometric technology into Novell`s Modular Authentication Service. This technology will simplify and secure user access to network resources and information by replacing the need for passwords and fingerprints.
