Novell reaffirms Datacentrix business expert status

By Datacentrix Holdings
Johannesburg, 20 Mar 2000

JSE-listed infrastructure company Datacentrix has had its Business Expert status reaffirmed by Novell South Africa. One of Novell`s most established Channel Partners, Datacentrix has complied with Novell`s criteria for technical and sales expertise, as well as over-achieving sales targets.

"The South African corporate market is moving firmly into the domain of the mobile, e-enabled user," says Datacentrix director Klaas Lammers. "Directory services, groupware, remote management and user support software are areas that Novell products address highly successfully, and we are increasingly using Novell as part of hybrid infrastructure solutions."

Lammers says Datacentrix, as a company specialising in infrastructure implementation, will use Novell particularly in the area of user management. "The mobile workforce presents one of the biggest challenges to a corporate in terms of maintaining its and managing users. While a certain level of functionality is built into the network operating system, Novell`s directory has management functions which can be applied across the enterprise, while still offering a choice of operating systems.

"Put simply, Novell gives companies the tools to do e-business. Since the inception of the accreditation process in 1999 we have seen a distinct upswing in Novell sales, as well as the competencies of our partners," says Hanli Wood, Novell SA`s Distribution Account Manager. "One of the criteria of expert business status is training for both technical and sales staff in the latest Novell versions. This process is on-going, and partners are evaluated at regular intervals to ensure they still comply with our requirements."

Datacentrix has been responsible for the rollout of massive Novell environments, including the Department of Affairs and Forestry, Department of Labour, the Agricultural Research Council, Statistics SA and the Department of Land Affairs.
