Novell has released Novell Small Business Suite 5, the easy-to-use, scalable, reliable and cost-effective network software solution for the growing small business market. Novell Small Business Suite 5 provides small businesses with easy methods for connecting to the Internet, helping companies reach broader audiences and take advantage of multiple Internet resources. This latest addition to Novell`s small business product line provides companies with the flexibility to expand and organise their businesses, while making networking easier for customers.
According to Novell product and SE manager James Stewart, Novell Small Business Suite 5 provides all the tools needed to establish a network, automate important pieces of the company`s workflow processes and expand its Internet capabilities -- all in an affordable, integrated and easy-to-use package. "They can expand their networks in manageable, affordable steps as their businesses grows; and because most small businesses are using cutting-edge technologies, I am confident that they will stay current in networking solutions and be prepared for Year 2000-related issues."
According to a recent report by International Data Corporation (IDC), 3.3 million of 6.3 million small businesses in the United States have waited until the last half of 1999 to resolve Year 2000-related issues. IDC estimates small businesses have already spent an estimated $10.6 billion (about R60-billion) on hardware and software upgrades that will assist in identifying Year 2000-compliance problems. Novell Small Business Suite 5 helps customers alleviate these problems at the desktop level with the inclusion of a five-user version of Greenwich Mean Time`s Check 2000 v. 3.11. This Y2K assessment tool helps identify Year 2000-related issues and then recommends potential fixes.

As part of Small Business Suite 5, Novell provides customers with a complete set of integrated applications from leading database, fax, anti-virus and Web software vendors. Solutions include a five-user version of Oracle8 data server, enabling Small Business Suite customers to build and deploy network-centric applications that streamline business processes.
It also includes one of the leading fax server solutions, Tobit FaxWare 5.2, which allows each
workstation on the network to send and receive faxes. Small Business Suite 5 also includes Network Associates NetShield and VirusScan, protecting the network and each workstation from crippling viruses. A one-user license of NetObjects Fusion, an easy-to-use Web design tool, enhances Small Business Suite 5 as a platform on which smaller businesses can design their Internet and intranet Web sites.
Finally, Small Business Suite 5 includes Netscape Communicator, a complete set of tools that allow customers to take advantage of the Internet with Netscape Navigator, Messenger, Collabora, Composer, Conference and Netcaster.
