Novell strengthens its partner links

Johannesburg, 07 Mar 2000

Novell EMEA has announced the launch of its new Partnership Programme designed to assist Independent Software Vendors (ISV), Independent Hardware Vendors (IHV), Service Providers (ISP), Application Service Providers (ASP), Corporate Consulting and System Integrators (CSI) partners, in working with Novell to develop and market joint products, services and solutions.

Novell channel and distribution manager Martin Bawden says as Novell enters into more partnerships, the programme will allow the organisation to simplify and streamline partner relations, providing an improved service to its customers. "The provision of the market with the systems integration, implementation and support expertise will ultimately aid the deployment of Net services solutions."

With Internet and intranet growth, the networks of customers, suppliers, associates are converging at a phenomenal rate. The need to be part of this networked economy has increased the importance of the directory. Novell`s eDirectory brings new business opportunities to partners as it provides a foundation that simplifies e-business relationships, integrates information for use by multiple applications and enables new products and services. By combining the power of Novell Net Services software products, including NDS eDirectory with third party products and services, partnerships can deliver complete Net solutions.

"The Novell Partnership programme is a mutually beneficial program for both Novell and its partners. We want to cultivate and develop long-term partnerships. With this in mind and based on the feedback of our existing partners, we developed a comprehensive programme with the right mix of resources in the areas of business relationships, development, technical support, training and , and joint marketing and sales," explains Bawden.

The programme will offer three Partnership levels: the Alliance Partnership, the Solutions Partnership and the Industry Partnership. Each partnership level provides a clear path for creating solutions and extending the association with Novell.=20

As part of the new Partnership programme a new web site - containing an overview of the Novell value proposition for partners, the partner benefits and a first range of partner registrations - can be accessed on http://partnerweb.novell.com/partner/partnerships/index.html.

"Partners voicing support for recent Novell technologies like our caching appliance or NDS eDirectory include Internet portals and dot-com companies, computer and equipment manufacturers, application software developers, service and solutions providers. The purpose of the new channel initiatives is to help all of them maximise the opportunity the networked economy offers, extending their market reach and more effectively serve our joint customers," he concludes.
