Novell SA, one of the largest network vendors in this country, is using the SDD Technology Showcase to present its networking solutions and groupware product range to a new audience throughout the country. According to Martin Bawden, distribution and OEM manager at Novell SA, the event provides Novell with an opportunity to reach the smaller centres where the company hasn`t had as much exposure among corporations and small to medium resellers as it would like. "These are the markets which are experiencing significant growth and where we need to generate awareness," he says and adds that the Showcase has the potential to cover a lot of ground and present new technologies and new products to an audience that is often starved for firsthand information. Organised by Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD), SA`s largest broad-based technology distributor, the SDD Technology Showcase - the first IT show of its kind and magnitude in this country - will provide the channel and end-users an unprecedented opportunity to find out more about the latest `best of breed` IT products from the world`s top hardware and software vendors. The show kicks off in Bloemfontein on March 4 and moves through Port Elizabeth, East London, Gauteng, Durban, Durban, Nelspruit and Pietersburg before finishing in Cape Town on April 23. "As one of the major vendors on the show we have decided to take advantage of the conference facilities SDD is providing rather than erecting a stand at each location. We believe we will achieve more through presentations and discussions than limited demonstration facilities," Bawden says. The "Novell Room" at each of the eight locations is prepared with the necessary facilities giving the presenters the tools they require to get their message across during the two days spent at each venue. "In the mornings we will focus on product training detailing advanced industry-leading technologies, followed by GroupWise, Novell`s Internet enabled groupware empowered by Novell Directory Services (NDS). "In the afternoons we will announce Novell`s Technology Strategy, a roadmap to groundbreaking Novell strategies with emphasis on market trends," Bawden explains. Some lesser known technologies such as BorderManager/Fast Cache and Novell Application Launcher, the company`s directory aware software distribution, desktop management and control system, will also be discussed.
