NSS snaps up exclusive rights to Axios

Johannesburg, 16 Jul 2004

NSS Consulting has concluded a deal with UK-based Axios Systems as the exclusive southern African representative of the company regarded as the leading supplier of fully integrated best practice-based out-of-the-box help-desk and IT service management software solutions.

Axios is the first company worldwide to be BS15000-certified - a key benefit as this certification is due to be legislated in SA shortly.

"Signing Axios therefore puts us way ahead of the pack in this area," said NSS Director Lynda Odendaal. "BS15000 is aimed at IT service management and is based on the internationally accepted best practice framework, ITIL."

Odendaal said it was becoming increasingly important for local companies to achieve enterprise-wide IT service and support by harnessing IT infrastructures as efficiently and effectively as possible.

The Axios suite of tools - known as assyst - would ensure IT infrastructure control, she said.

"The assyst service management software solution offers a unique lifecycle approach to IT service management through the integration of all ITIL service management processes in a single IT service management software application," she said. "It is, in a nutshell, a help-desk and IT service management solution supporting all ITIL disciplines in a single integrated product."

Odendaal said Axios is placed at the hub of an organisation`s IT operations and brings an unprecedented level of consolidation to IT service management.

"This consolidation is a key strength of the software, steering the user intuitively through the ITIL service management processes in turn, ensuring a best practice implementation every time."

As an example, Odendaal pointed out assyst`s Problem Management solution, which offers a proactive approach to problem management problems and known errors before incidents occur.

"There`s also a reactive approach that solves repetitive, recurring incidents, leveraging past experiences and obviously creating improved organisational learning."

In addition, the Axios suite offers problem management, help-desk and incident management, the SA-critical change management, asset and configuration management and, of course, service level management.

NSS will be training local staff over the next month. However, negotiations with a number of key sites are already under way with several high profile enterprises - particularly those with international connections - expressing major interest.
