NTT Data, MicroStrategy team up

NTT Data Corporation and MicroStrategy Japan have agreed to cooperate in developing and deploying warehouse/business intelligence solutions based on the MicroStrategy-provided business intelligence tool MicroStrategy 9, states Asahi Shibum.

MicroStrategy 9 is equipped with advanced functions for monitoring, reporting, and analysis, supporting effective decision-making by corporations.

NTT Data will also operate as a agent for MicroStrategy Japan, providing licence sales and working jointly on application of the solutions to the large-scale systems that NTT Data currently provides. The companies are aiming for the start of deployment by August 2010.

Pentaho BI available on-demand

Open source BI company Pentaho has introduced an on-demand subscription service for the Pentaho BI Suite, according to ComputerWeekly.

Pentaho's On-Demand BI Subscription is deployed via a virtual image, which Pentaho said eliminates any portability issues should the customer decide to move their BI suite to their on-premises infrastructure.

The company is also offering an on-demand evaluation environment, allowing enterprises to test drive the Pentaho BI suite with their own data without requiring any of their own hardware or personnel.

Ingres debuts database engine

Ingres has released a new kind of database system, Ingres VectorWise, that it says cuts in half the time needed to process complex queries, reports InformationWeek.

It does so by understanding and exploiting the capabilities of the latest generation of computer chips in a manner similar to the game software.

If Ingres' claims are borne out, then the data warehousing and analytics market, which includes several tightly balanced database machines, may be about to turn in a new direction.
