John W Dick, Chairman of the Board of O3b Networks, announced today that Andrew Browne has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for O3b Networks and will officially join the company on 18 April 2013.

Andrew joins O3b from SES, where he served as CFO for three years, during which time he consolidated its global finance operations. An industry veteran with a wealth of experience, Browne was CFO of Intelsat from 1995 to 1998 where he was instrumental in building the foundation for privatisation, including the formation of spin-off New Skies Satellites in The Hague, Netherlands. He then served as CFO of New Skies from 1998 to 2008, overseeing IPOs on the Euronext and NYSE before creating substantial shareholder value through private sales to private equity, and ultimately, to SES.

"O3b is on the cusp of an incredibly exciting future and I'm thrilled to be welcoming Andrew to the O3b family. He brings with him his extraordinary experience and track record as CFO of the largest satellite companies in the world," said Steve Collar, CEO, O3b Networks. "With our satellite constellation launching this year, there could not be a better time for Andrew to champion our growth and strategic development, as well as prepare us for operation. Much of what we are looking to do as a company in the future, Andrew has already achieved in his previous roles at SES, New Skies Satellites and Intelsat."

"I am really excited to be joining the company in its launch year," said Browne. "Having served on the Board of O3b Networks, I have seen at close quarters the progress the company has made and there is tremendous scope and opportunity for us to develop and grow. O3b is a true game changer. The promise to deliver affordable, high-speed connectivity to billions of people around the world is ever closer to a reality and I am looking forward to being a part of it."
