Oblix unveils NetPoint 6 at Burton Group Catalyst Conference 2002

Enhanced integration capabilities, including SAML support and expanded Microsoft .NET platform support, at core of best of breed enterprise identity management solution
Johannesburg, 22 Jul 2002

Oblix, the leading developer of identity-based security solutions, today unveiled Oblix NetPoint 6 at Burton Group`s Catalyst Conference in San Francisco.

This latest version of Oblix NetPoint, a leading enterprise identity management and Web access solution, builds upon the solution`s already extensive features by adding capabilities that expand an enterprise`s ability to quickly integrate Oblix NetPoint into IT and Web environments.

Oblix has consistently focused on building pre-integration capability right into its products, reducing the amount of custom development an enterprise must undertake when integrating Oblix solutions with other IT systems. The delivery of Oblix NetPoint 6 furthers this strategy.

"We continue to be impressed with Oblix NetPoint`s complete enterprise identity management capability," said John Frazier, Director, Infrastructure Services, i2 Technologies. "By expanding the integration options of Oblix NetPoint with this latest version, Oblix`s solution is positioned to meet the growing demand of enterprise organisations like i2 with solutions that scale and leverage IT investments."

Oblix NetPoint is unique in the amount of proven pre-integration that comes bundled with the solution. These turnkey integrations include Oblix IDLink, providing integration with CONTROL-SA from BMC Software, NetPoint Ready Realm for BEA, Passport Authentication Plugin for Microsoft .NET Passport, single sign-on integration with e-business applications from Siebel, Peoplesoft, SAP and Oracle, portal integration with Plumtree, Epicentric, SAP and BEA, application server integration with BEA, IBM and Sun, directory server integration with Sun, Microsoft, IBM and Novell, reporting and monitoring integration with ArcSight, Crystal Dynamics, and WebTrends, and many other security infrastructure products from companies such as Checkpoint, Internet Security Systems and VeriSign.

In February 2002, Oblix became the first vendor to integrate with Microsoft .NET Passport via the NetPoint FEDERATEDid Layer. This latest version of Oblix NetPoint expands support for the .NET platform by adding IIS 6.0/Windows support and expanding support for Active Directory through native interface integration. This native Active Directory integration enables expanded directory server failover capability. In addition to expanded Microsoft .NET support, Oblix NetPoint 6 includes the following product enhancements:

* SAML Support - Consistent with Oblix`s support for open standards, version 6 is designed to support SAML. Oblix has been very involved with OASIS, the standards group that is driving the ratification of SAML.

* Enhanced Identity Workflow - Provisioning logic can now be added in to Oblix NetPoint`s multi-step workflow engine. This allows "sub-flows" to be spawned from an Oblix NetPoint workflow process, calling out to third-party provisioning solutions to facilitate access approvals for IT systems. Oblix IDLink, developed by Oblix in cooperation with BMC Software, is the first implementation of this enhanced identity workflow feature.

* BEA Support - Version 6 adds support for BEA WebLogic 6.1 and BEA WebLogic Portal 4.0. These additions expand on Oblix`s comprehensive support for the BEA WebLogic' E-business Platform.

* Access Management API - Organisations can now create their own customized interfaces to manage access policies or policy domains, instead of using the complete Oblix NetPoint GUI.

"We are seeing tremendous momentum in the market for Oblix NetPoint as more and more businesses wrestle with the task of how to manage digital identities," said Gordon Eubanks, president and CEO, Oblix.

"Our strategy has always focused on building turnkey integrations with other technologies our customers use to grow their on-line business-ERP systems, CRM systems, portals, provisioning, etc. We continue to deliver on this strategy with this latest release."

Oblix NetPoint 6 will be commercially available within 60 days, but release availability remains at the sole discretion of Oblix. Oblix NetPoint is priced at an average price of $15 per user, with enterprise pricing available.

Oblix NetPoint

In addition to providing single sign-on capabilities to Web applications, Oblix NetPoint provides an identity infrastructure, COREid, that serves as the foundation for an entire e-business environment. By automating the process of making changes to user identity information and access privileges through a delegated administration and workflow system, Oblix NetPoint can significantly lower the cost of building and managing an e-business environment. This capability also makes it easy to keep user identity information in large and dynamic online environments up-to-date, so that critical information can remain secure regardless of the number of changes in users and security levels. Oblix NetPoint fully leverages an organization`s existing infrastructure investments by offering the market`s broadest XML integration options.
