Obsidian Systems, a leading provider of enterprise open source in southern Africa, and one of Red Hat`s first South African partners, has been recognised for growing Red Hat`s presence in southern Africa by winning a Stronger Together Award at the Red Hat EMEA Partner Summit 2010. This is one of only six awards that Red Hat presented at the 2010 EMEA Partner Summit, which attracted more than 560 Red Hat Partners from around the EMEA region.
The Stronger Together Award celebrates Red Hat Partners that contribute to improved customer satisfaction and pave the way to wider adoption of Red Hat solutions in the enterprise. Obsidian was one of two Stronger Together Award winners at the Red Hat EMEA Partner Summit.
Obsidian Systems was recently appointed as one of Red Hat`s preferred service delivery partners for the entire Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region and has been a Red Hat Global Learning Services and Red Hat Certified Training Partner for several years.
Delegates at the three-day conference attended product and strategy updates, technical workshops, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and, for the first time, participated in on-site certification opportunities as part of Red Hat`s industry-leading certification programme. South African partners were represented by 13 delegates at the EMEA Partner Summit.
"The strong South African presence at the EMEA Partner Summit for 2010 indicates how the Red Hat ecosystem is growing in this region," comments Louis Seyffert, country manager Southern Africa, Red Hat. "Our existing partners are graduating to higher tiers of partnership as their businesses grow and we continue to welcome new partners to the community."
"Our partners play an invaluable role in growing our customer base in South Africa and are delivering world-class skills and services to the local market," Seyffert adds. "Obsidian`s Stronger Together Award is in recognition of a decade of commitment to Red Hat products and technologies, its role in the South African ecosystem and of the quality of the company`s skills."
"We are honoured to have received this award from Red Hat. We have worked closely with Red Hat for more than 10 years to bring the benefits of professional open source software to South Africa," says Muggie van Staden, managing director at Obsidian Systems. "We look forward to the next 10 years of our partnership."
