Ocarina optimises HP storage

Ocarina Networks is to implement its content-aware compression for the HP family of scalable network-attached storage (NAS) platforms, says IBtimes.

The move aims to optimise the storage capacity of the HP StorageWorks 9100 Extreme Storage System.

The solution will include features such as time-sequenced snapshots, metadata acceleration, and a global namespace that will allow multiple HP scalable NAS platforms to look like one larger pool of storage.

Apple expansion storage released

Winchester Systems, a data storage solutions provider, has released the SA-4200 series of Apple-compatible FlashDisk XRaid disk arrays intended to provide capacity expansion storage for Apple Xserve servers and MAC Pro workstations, states Marketwatch.

FlashDisk XRaid is compatible with Apple's Xsan 2, Final Cut Studio 2, and other applications without the need for host driver software.

Each compact array holds eight disk drives of 500GB, 750GB or 1TB each to provide up to 8TB of data and can be stacked four units high for a total of 32TB of convenient expansion.

Qlogic unveils intelligent storage router

Qlogic has introduced the 6200 series of intelligent storage routers, the first 10GbE iSCSI-to-8Gb channel routers, reports Marketwatch.

Supporting high 10Gb Ethernet and 8Gb fibre channel, the enterprise-class QLogic 6200 intelligent storage router offers more capacity than the 1Gb iSCSI routers for connecting low-cost servers to fibre channel storage and replicating data over a wide area network.

The design features a PCI-Express expansion bus on each router blade to leverage PCI-E adapters to support emerging protocols.
