Oc'e introduces Oc'e CPS700

Johannesburg, 03 Sep 2002

Minolta South Africa has launched the Oc'e CPS700, a high volume digital colour printer that produces 100 000 prints per month and boasts a constant print speed of 25 A4 impressions per minute, no matter what is being printed - double-sided, A3 or stapled documents.

Oc'e business unit manager, Pierre la Grange, says the Oc'e CPS700`s ability to produce such large volumes is attributed to a revolutionary digital process, Direct Imaging, which transfers the complete toner image directly onto an intermediate drum in one step. "Oc'e Colour Copy Press technology then 'presses` the image onto the paper for consistent colour quality," says La Grange.

Most of the time utilised in print production is taken up by the file generation process. To overcome this, the Oc'e CPS700 works with a designated controller developed in cooperation with EFI, an advanced server that handles all major types of data flows and formats used in the industry.

The Oc'e CPS700 handles both standard and non-standard materials up to 210 g/m^2 including embossed, textured or coated paper, as well as overhead sheets. The machine`s fusing temperature has been lowered to eliminate paper curl and the printer toner does not break when documents are folded.

According to La Grange, the Oc'e CPS700 is not affected by temperature and humidity changes. "Users no longer have to constantly recalibrate the machine and its low sensitivity to environmental changes means consistent colour quality," he says.

Oce`s unique monocomponent toner products prints without excessive surface shine and, with toner colours printed side by side instead of in layers, the result is more consistent solid colours and a 10 000th print that looks the same as the first.
