Oc'e JetStream rides the TransPromo wave

Johannesburg, 16 Oct 2008

“The really exciting thing about the Oc'e JetStream is that it can do everything that a big offset printing system can do, while at the same time offering variable data on every single page, if that's what is required,” says Stephen Bell of Oc'e South Africa's Digital Document Systems. He adds: “In addition, the JetStream is cheaper to run than a traditional litho press.”

While the Oc'e JetStream is the perfect printer for high volume, one-to-one transaction printing, it offers a realistic 600x600 dpi print resolution even at the highest speeds. Bell says: “A lot of Oc'e's customers find that it adds value to their offset printing systems for short runs and colour work. With running costs that are in the region of less than 10 cents per colour page it makes sense to do high volume prints that would typically have been done on an offset press with the JetStream. In fact, it is the perfect complement to a high-demand colour offset printing shop.”

“Anyone hoping to participate in the burgeoning one-to-one TransPromo market will need the right printing partner who can provide leading-edge technology,” adds Bell. “The key to success in TransPromo communication is being able to leverage your data effectively and this is where the right partner is essential. The vendor also has to be able to build software systems that can utilise the customer's business data as effectively as possible.”

When it comes to colour printing and TransPromo - a combination of transaction and promotional printing - Oc'e's JetStream series is unbeatable. The system is specifically targeted at direct mail and transaction markets where high quality, productivity and lower operation costs are required. It delivers the winning combination of features and performance rerouting into exciting new business opportunities such as the fast-growing TransPromo market in the very high volume segment.

“Full colour high volume transaction printing is now more affordable than ever before,” says Bell. “This brings colour within the reach of companies whose budgetary constraints might previously have forced them to take the black and white route to communicating with their customers.”

Bell adds: “Colour production costs have spiralled downwards as performance and quality have steadily increased. New inkjet printers such as the Oc'e JetStream now deliver high speed, superlative quality and lower costs per page, creating huge market opportunities for digital colour applications.”

Colour invoices and account statements make communication measurably more efficient and accessible; unlike separate flyers, a message in the transactional document holds attention for longer - people are far more likely to pay attention to the bills they receive. Whereas a promotional flyer, no matter how glossy and expensive, can easily end up in the bin unread.

Digital printing holds many advantages for the customer over offset presses, not least of which that litho or offset printing cannot be used to produce TransPromo documents. In addition, using on-demand digital printing means faster make-ready times, no need to keep and manage an inventory of preprints, and no wasteful disposal of out of date prints.

Equipped with groundbreaking drop-on-demand technology, the Oc'e JetStream series delivers unrivalled inkjet colour quality, combined with ultra-fast output speeds. The Oc'e JetStream single engine systems deliver full process colour at speeds up to 1 010 A4 impressions per minute in two-up simplex format. Exclusive to these systems is duplex printing with a single engine - without a loss in speed or performance. The two-engine printers can produce up to 2 700 A4 impressions per minute in two-up duplex format. The Oc'e JetStream systems deliver top quality output with an industry-leading standard resolution of 600x600 dpi. The systems support a wide range of paper and weights, and no special media is required.
