Oc'e South Africa ahead of the pack

Johannesburg, 12 Jan 2006

Oc'e South Africa is the first Oc'e company worldwide to be certified on the Oc'e Professional Printroom Programme. Trainers from Oc'e Venlo spent a week at the Johannesburg office presenting a training course on the Oc'e Professional Printroom Programme to sales and marketing personnel from around South Africa.

The challenges facing the printroom are many. Dealing with digital access, Web-based job submission, timely production and process control, as well as demand for new services beyond printing and convergence of applications and environments. Companies can improve their printroom performance, becoming more efficient and enabling them to grow both volumes and service offerings, by implementing the Oc'e Professional Printroom Programme.

The Oc'e Professional Printroom Programme increases strategic printroom operation. With modular workflow solutions that build client trust, enhance the document service portfolio, maximise productivity and reduce costs. With the Oc'e Professional Printroom Programme you can improve your printroom performance step by step with a realistic, planned approach, every step having tangible and measurable business-based objectives.

First we provide objective, analytical data from your current printing and copying workflows and your document-related needs. Then we develop a business case including a cost/benefit analysis, and propose a best-fit printroom strategy based on your existing configuration, goals, needs and resources according to four sophistication levels. As Oc'e software and systems are modular and based on open standards, you can upgrade your solution as needed.

Level 1: Digital Printroom

Whether analogue or digital, black and white or colour, small or wide format, the Oc'e range of multifunctional, multitasking systems meet the needs of a printroom undergoing the transition to digital. In addition to printing, copying and scanning, the Digital Printroom provides basic finishing such as stapling and collating.

Oc'e systems easily produce complex jobs requiring tabs, covers, inserts, chapterisation, etc, and even mix colour and black and white documents in a single job. Clients have access to specific functionalities through advanced Oc'e printer drivers. Incoming jobs can be edited, queued and prioritised by printroom operators for workload control. The IT department can support uptime via remote access and control of printing devices.

Level 2: Service Printroom

The Service Printroom combines Digital Printroom functionality with advanced job submission, convenient re-ordering, feedback and server-based job and queue management. A `digital counter` at the user`s desktop shows all available printroom services. This stage also lets you offer enhanced service options: automatic document design, makeready and clean-up; scan-to-archive, -CD or -e-mail; OCR delivering editable digital files from analogue documents. Inline/online finishing provides booklet-making, punching, binding, envelope insertion, etc. You are able to control Oc'e and non-Oc'e devices, balance workloads and have easy access to comprehensive printroom accounting functions.

Level 3: Convergence Printroom

This stage builds on the services mix developed in levels 1 and 2, but adds your organisation`s business and transaction documents. Now, datastreams from a variety of sources - EDP, ERP and CRM - can be handled instantaneously, giving you the ability to combine variable data with electronic form printing. This facilitates document customisation and personalisation, reducing pre-printed form stocks in the process. You can also choose to add MICR, Oc'e CustomTone and full colour printing, abilities that help transaction and commercial documents stand out. Oc'e systems provide the document security and integrity that is crucial to transaction documents. You can track documents, monitor devices and ensure output integrity for tight control of every job, including reprinting of lost or damaged documents. Innovative Oc'e software seamlessly integrates with ERP software such as SAP, enabling full-function input and output management.

Level 4: Enterprise Printroom

Oc'e optimises your enterprise printroom architecture by enabling you to connect and control multiple-local, national and international-printrooms. A universal printer driver facilitates intelligent routing, authorised printroom access and enterprise-wide accounting for all networked printing systems. Job scheduling and distribution across locations means that documents can be initiated in one location and printed halfway around the world if desired - true printing at the point of need. Think of the effect this has on your ability to print anytime a client wishes, anywhere in your enterprise.

With the Oc'e Professional Printroom Programme you redesign your printroom with the efficiency and productivity that your business and employees need.

Peter Enslin, marketing manager for Oc'e South Africa, says: "We are very proud to be the first recipients of certification on this programme and I`m confident that our customers are going to be as excited about the opportunities that it holds for improving their printroom offerings as we are!"
