Software Futures has appointed Sean O'Connell as general manager of its Cape division. In his new position O'Connell, who has been with the Cape division since its inception in 1998 as business unit and regional solutions leader, will play a key role in the company's drive towards customer centricity and delivering unexpected business advantage for clients.
O'Connell has been in the IT industry for the past 17 years as a developer, project and program manager. Previous employers include the House of Representatives, Norwich and Shell. His client-centric approach is focused primarily on maximising return on investment for customers, transparency and reliability, in order to build trusted and strategic partnerships with clients.
"Enhancing the cohesion of the Cape operation requires constant analysis of the needs of the market, our clients and their strategic direction," says O'Connell. "To achieve this end we use our strategic partnerships with leading software companies Microsoft, IBM, and Rational. Our competitive advantages relate to integration, best practices and strategic outsourcing, which are key to implementing efficiencies and cost-effective delivery."
One of O'Connell's focuses will be to grow the company's partnership status so as to achieve delivery of the latest technologies and software to clients, keeping abreast of trends and implementing world best practices.
"Software Futures has a proven track record in strategic outsourcing of application development and support, which we believe is unmatched in the Cape. Our success is evident in the implementation of our best practices and efficiencies with the model of driving down costs with improving delivery," he says.
Software Futures is the world's leading Rational reseller and is double Microsoft Gold-certified. The Cape division has a national focus with a core competency that is replicated throughout the organisation.
"Our business case lies in that we are able to maximise our utilisation nationally and internationally," he adds.
O'Connell abides by a leadership versus management approach and an open-door policy to ensure he keeps in touch with issues on the ground.
"We live in an increasingly fractal world and responsibility with authority, based fundamentally on trusted relationships, will ensure personal and career growth," he concludes.
