OCR server allows image file sharing

Workshare has unveiled its OCR server, saying users will have instant access to edit scanned documents and be able to share information previously only available as an image file in PDF format, reports EcontentMag.

With Workshare OCR Server users will now be able to edit, reformat, and reuse information, and the conversion from image to text will now be more seamless, according to Workshare.

The OCR server provides processing of image-based files, reproducing not only the words, but the formatting of documents. Users are now able to "cut and paste" the information, revise it, reformat it, and incorporate it into discovery responses, pleadings, and communications with clients or other parties.

Citrix Systems wants to make even more money with desktop and server virtualisation; the only problem is that VMware got started earlier and has the lion's share of the market, writes The Register.

That's why in February, Citrix put out its XenServer 5.1 hypervisor, which is based on the open source Xen hypervisor, but which includes lots of other goodies, as a free download when it jumped the gun and announced XenServer 5.5 at the same time.

Both the free download of XenServer 5.1 and the early announcement of XenServer 5.5, which didn't start shipping until the middle of June, were meant to blunt the vSphere 4.0 and ESX Server 4.0 attack from VMware and its partners. Citrix says the freebie XenServer is getting traction in the market.

CodeLathe has released the TonidoPlug, a device based on the SheevaPlug, powered by Marvell Sheeva CPU technology, says PRWeb.

According to the company, TonidoPlug is a tiny, low-power, low -cost home server that allows people to access their applications, files, photos, music, and media from anywhere.

The TonidoPlug comes pre-installed with Tonido applications including Torrent, Jukebox, Webshare, Workspace, Thots, Explorer, Photos, and Search. Additionally, the TonidoPlug can be extended by installing new applications from the Tonido application store, available at www.tonidoplug.com.
