Oeschger takes up the reins at NOR Paper

Johannesburg, 01 Sep 2010

Ronnie Oeschger has taken up the reins at NOR Paper, marking the completion of the company's integration into Bytes Document Solutions.

NOR Paper was acquired towards the end of 2008 and was originally based in Cape Town. It then opened a Johannesburg office in 2005 that helped it to become a R280 million per annum revenue company.

NOR Paper also opened a Pretoria and Durban office shortly after the acquisition by Bytes Document Solutions, and with the merge of the NOR and Bytes Office Division, have now become a R550 million business.

Oeschger's primary goal in the next five years is to build a premier paper merchant that becomes the leading supplier to the print and office markets into Africa.

NOR Paper offers comprehensive paper, board and sundry supplies and is a one-stop shop for all printing and allied trades, as well as stationers and small business. NOR Paper is also involved in the distribution of coated art paper, which is available in three grades: matt, gloss and silk (semi gloss); uncoated wood free paper; copy paper and various boards, completing its offering of over 30 different grades in its product range.

“Our core business focus is to deliver on-demand and just-in-time products and services to a competitive and demanding market,” says Oeschger. “Our new 5 000sq/m Cape Town premises in Voortrekker Rd were specifically designed and streamlined for best-in-class workflow in off-loading, picking, cutting and distributing. This makes the company more efficient, which means that customers enjoy improved levels of service.”

“I have a fantastic, experienced team that has a wealth of knowledge of the industry, and together we will continue to take NOR Paper to new heights,” says Oeschger.

Oeschger is the ideal candidate to take the helm, as he knows Bytes Document Solutions extremely well, after starting with the company in June 1999 in the Office Supplies Business. He spent seven years there, during which time the business grew from annual revenues of R79 million to R220 million. After his seven years in the Office Supplies Business, he was promoted to Divisional Manager of the Xerox Office Equipment operation, and in February 2010 was again promoted to Divisional Director of Xerox System Sales for all Xerox equipment.

His appointment as MD of the NOR Paper business sees his return to that industry where he can put his 32 years' experience in paper and print, both offset and digital, to maximum use.
