Companies using MicroStrategy are the most loyal and satisfied relative to other business intelligence (BI) software products. This is the finding in a comprehensive survey of BI customers, as reported in The OLAP Survey 5.
MicroStrategy received an overall customer loyalty score of 81% and was the highest ranked BI software product reviewed.
The OLAP Survey is the most extensive of its kind, compiling the BI experiences of 2 100 organisations across 95 countries.
The OLAP Surveys, conducted annually by industry analyst Nigel Pendse and Survey.com (http://www.survey.com/olap), are the most comprehensive independent surveys of the BI market space and products.
Charl Barnard, MicroStrategy product manager at local distributor Knowledge Integration Dynamics, says: "The survey shows, once again, that customers have strong loyalty toward MicroStrategy products and services."
According to The OLAP Survey 5, customer loyalty is an indication of how satisfied a customer is with a vendor`s products and services and is a crucial factor in vendor success. A loyal customer is defined as one that continues to use existing applications; buy additional software to deploy existing applications more widely; uses the product in preference to others when implementing new applications; and favours the product if there is ever a demand to reduce the number of BI suppliers.

"For the second consecutive year, MicroStrategy had the highest customer loyalty of any of the products reviewed," reports survey author Pendse. "The results confirm that well known vendors, who have pursued a growth strategy based on acquisitions aimed at covering the entire BI spectrum, have poor customer loyalty; whereas MicroStrategy, which has concentrated on a single product architecture and has grown organically, came out on top. The fact that MicroStrategy was rated number one suggests that many of its customers see no alternative to the product."
