Olicom has unveiled two new Fast Ethernet switches, the CrossFire 8400 Fast Ethernet ATM Edge Switch and the CrossFire 8420 Fast Ethernet Switch. Olicom`s new Fast Ethernet switches play a key role in the company`s migration strategy for Token-Ring customers, as the switches are designed to enable the easy integration of Fast Ethernet technology alongside existing Token-Ring networks."The new Fast Ethernet switches fill two distinct and pressing needs among Token-Ring enterprises that have decided upon Fast Ethernet as a strategic upgrade technology," said Olicom SA country manager Louis Appunn."The CrossFire 8400, with eight 10/100 Mbps ports and a built-in 155 Mbps ATM Uplink, facilitates the smooth integration of Ethernet workgroups with an ATM backbone; the CrossFire 8420, with 24 10/100 Mbps ports, provides a cost-effective switching solution at the workgroup level.
