On the move: Scala's focus for 2002

Johannesburg, 21 Feb 2002

At Scala's annual strategic planning meeting held in Cyprus in January, Scala's Chief Executive Officer, Mike Burdett, addressed over 160 global partners, dealers and management staff, stating that 2002 will show Scala's business strategy is exactly right for the company's growth and profit generation.

Burdett demonstrated how Scala secured more contracts within its target market as 2001 progressed, and that the current high levels of interest in Scala's collaborative ERP products are an encouraging indication that 2002 will see more deals for Scala's software as demand continues for Scala's cost-effective solutions.

Scala targets the subsidiaries, divisions and suppliers of local and global companies. Scala increasingly works with the headquarters of companies that see the clear benefits of partnering with a low-cost vendor like Scala who can provide the essential combination of back-office software and Internet connectivity for their mid-size subsidiaries that seamlessly integrates with systems installed in larger subsidiaries and headquarters, such as SAP.

Increasingly we are seeing companies wanting to standardise across all their local offices to provide one set of business processes and reporting in order to both formalise, and simplify, the information needed throughout the enterprise.

Shamik Sinha, CEO of Scala Africa, comments: "Scala's corporate profile is one of its biggest strengths: it has more than 800 corporate global accounts, which is an outstanding figure. Along with its strong foothold in more than 100 countries, this makes Scala the only mid-market vendor in the world with such a presence. Scala Africa sells and supports Scala software in the sub-Saharan region of Africa."

Sinha adds that Scala's latest technology is leading the market in meeting the needs of businesses for the long-term. "Everyone is talking about collaboration but Scala is already delivering it, rather than it being something in the product pipeline. This is the type of advanced technology that we want to be involved with implementing."

Scala's strategy firmly addresses the movement in the market from ERP to collaborative ERP. "Businesses want to be able to automatically transact data, both internally and externally, in order to focus more on building customer relationships. Our technology enables that automation - exactly the kind of forward-looking technology our customers demand and we will continue to deliver. This will be the year that Scala is on the move."
