Storm, the UK backed telecommunications company, has recently upgraded Braby's Red Index web site,
www.redindex.com
, the Southern African and Indian Ocean Island specialist business directory. The revamped Web site includes a more accessible and user-friendly interface, with specialised directories, that provide users with in-depth information associated with the businesses they are searching for.
Rob Fisher, special projects director at storm says, "The new site with its 'Power Search' makes navigation and the finding of information much easier and quicker. Additionally, 'Power Search' has been designed with the most popular search criteria a mere mouse click away. The introduction of specialised directories within Red Index makes life easier for people searching for contact details and information in niche markets." The technology used to boost the site and make the enhancements possible included Microsoft 2000 Advanced Server and Microsoft SQL Server 7, running on three Intel Pentium 3 servers.
Client feedback on the site reflects the need for online services of this nature in South Africa. Business information officer at the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry says, "Gone are the days of having to search through phone books and directories, Braby's Red Index provides an organisation with a comprehensive and time-saving alternative when sourcing important business information. We utilise Braby's Red Index on a regular basis, as it is a comprehensive source of online business information and saves us time in our search for companies details."
Gordon Rechner, financial director at Braby's says, "The original business, which storm acquired in 2000, initially converted our paper based directories to an electronic format. The feedback from our broad client base has been extremely positive. We have been able to lead the field in on-line business directories, and storm's latest innovations have allowed us to continue in this vein.
