Online shopping redesigns retail

The IBM survey reports that innovation in technology is being driven in large part by Generation Y shoppers, states Base Line.

These shoppers expect to be able to use texting and other increasingly commonplace tools to conduct commerce. Other generations are following suit. The survey was carried on more than 30 000 consumers around the world.

The research shows that mobile devices have become a critical platform, while emerging technologies such as smart applications accessed via television could be on their way to redefining the retail experience.

Panasonic announced that its Stingray Point-of-Sale (POS) workstation has been approved for use throughout the Dairy Queen system, reports QSR Magazine.

The final approval for the efficient Panasonic solution, which also includes XPIENT's software suite, was received from American Dairy Queen and was further endorsed by Dairy Queen Operators' Association.

"Panasonic is pleased to team up with Dairy Queen, credited with developing the foundation of the franchising industry 70 years ago," says Bill Taylor, president of Panasonic System Networks Company of America.

ViVOtech implements Voltage encrypted POS

Silicon Valley-based ViVOtech, a provider of retail solutions, is implementing a Voltage Security-powered end-to-end encryption POS solution in its ViVOpay line of contactless NFC payment terminals, writes Finextra

ViVOtech also said it has joined the Voltage SecureData Open License Program as it dramatically lowers the barrier to implementing end-to-end encryption on POS devices, Electronic Cash Registers, mobile payment devices and eCommerce Payment platforms.

"We are excited to work with Voltage on providing this expanded level of end-to- end for our merchants and their payment providers. Voltage offers a strong track record of working with leading acquirers and merchants in the payment space," says Mohammed Khan, president and founder of ViVOtech.
