Onlive partners Ouya Android console

more than $5 million in funding from Kickstarter, has a new partner - online gaming firm OnLive, PC Magazine says.

“We are pleased to announce that OnLive will be available on Ouya at launch, extending and building on our commitment to make the best games available to everyone, everywhere,” Bruce Grove, GM of Ouya, says.

The Inquirer notes that over at Onlive, ears pricked up as soon as news about the Ouya console broke, and according to Grove, they wanted in as soon as possible.

“When Onlive first heard about Ouya, we were excited to see console gaming becoming more available and open. Like Ouya, we came to gaming with a new vision for making top-quality gaming accessible to more people, and we continue to look for ways to expand on that vision,” Grove adds.

Adding Onlive to Ouya will bring hundreds of top tier games to Ouya when it goes live, and will let owners play against their friends, regardless of whatever hardware they are using.

The particulars of the OnLive deal mean that Ouya owners will have instant access to a streaming library of hundreds of games from over 80 publishers at release, The Gaming Vault notes.

The deal also includes the OnLive demo functionality; allowing users to demo any game in their library for 30 minutes without incurring any cost whatsoever.
