Only back security solutions that are number one

Johannesburg, 22 Nov 2010

Trend Micro today announced that the its latest Worry-Free Business Security version, ie, V7, has again topped the list of testing undertaken by AV-Test.org, a Germany-based company that is a worldwide and independent operating and leading service provider for IT security testing and consultancy services.

“The findings of this latest set of results are extremely encouraging,” commented Lee Bristow, Product Manager at SecureData for Trend Micro's products. “They show that Worry-Free V7 (WF7) provided:

* Best Overall Protection with over 96% of all threats being blocked versus the vendors' average of 72.5% and 13.5% higher than the number two vendor;
* Best Time-To-Protection Performance Improvement with over a 42% improvement and six times faster than the next competitor. (Time-to-protect improvement is the percentage of threats missed at T = 0 min that are subsequently prevented at T = 60 min. For example, with Trend Micro WFBS 7 at T = 0 min, 186 threats were prevented while 14 threats were missed. Of the 14 threats missed at T = 0 min, six were prevented at T = 60 min);
* Best Web Threat Blocking with over 90% of Web infections blocked at their source versus the vendors average of 26.3%, and 29% higher than the number two vendor; and
* Consistency in Protection as Trend Micro ranked in top two every month since January 2010.”

“This result, together with the reality that Trend's WF7 is one of the lightest yet one of the feature rich products in the SME market, now gives the peace of mind customers want,” continued Bristow. “It provides evidence that WF7 gives the best protection against the latest real world threats in the industry.”

“Every year AV-Test.org performs more than 2 500 product tests of anti-virus, anti-spyware, personal firewalls and related products on behalf of vendors, integrators (OEM), corporate users and magazines,” concluded Bristow. Having an independent organisation consistently and regularly undertaking this type of activity is essential for the substantiating the credibility of a vendor's product.”
