ONYX IT has been appointed by Pinnacle Technology Holdings to train educators, in the Gauteng region, on information and communications technology as part of the successful GautengOnline project.
Says Dale Liebenberg, MD of ONYX: "This is one of the most exciting projects that a training company could wish to be a part of. One of the key benefits of this training is that it`s a long-term investment in our country`s growth and future."
We firmly believe the orientation and advanced training, which the educators have been receiving, will filter down to all of their students and have a direct impact on our economy. We believe this because it will result in the transfer of PC skills from educator to learner, so that when a learner graduates from school they will be more marketable than before.
In addition, schools will be able to generate income by utilising their computer laboratory to educate members of their community.
To date we have trained over 6 000 educators and had fantastic response from all of them. Educators have met this new opportunity with great enthusiasm. That said, we have just touched the surface of the training needs and opportunities in this province, let alone the rest of SA and Africa."
Families in rural areas will benefit from the upsurge and wave of positive change ICT brings to people every day. For those of us privileged enough to be exposed to technological advancements as a norm, we can only imagine what it will mean to previously disadvantaged individuals. People will be taught skills that will empower them to seek full time employment and even self-employment.
The job opportunities that have been created as a result of this project are phenomenal! Ultimately, ONYX IT realises that by investing in people today, we will see the results tomorrow and the day after. It`s incredibly rewarding for every person involved.
